Renal Sympathetic Denervation

The BSIR has collaberated with the British Hypertension Society, the British Cardiovascular Intervention Society, National Institute for Clinical Outcomes Research, the British Cardiovascular Society and the Renal Association to develop a consensus statement on this procedure. This consensus has been presented to both NICE and Commissioners. It was felt that it was vitally important for the BSIR to be involved with this project to help ensure a responsible approach to this potentially important procedure and to ensure that we remain a recognised stakeholder in this arena. Please read the final version of the Consensus Statement including links to NICE guidance here. BSIR Council would strongly encourage members to consider the content carefully in relation to delivery of their local services.

The BSIR Advanced Practice Course 2012
The BSIR Education Committee met on 9th January 2012 to review the 6 applications received to host the 2012 Advanced Practice Course. The 2012 Advanced Practice Course will be held in Leeds on 28th and 29th June 2012 (Dr David Kessel). The 2013 course will be held in Cambridge (Dr Teik Choon See). It is anticipated that applications for the 2014 course will be considered in November 2012. Further details of the 2012 course to follow
