The Royal College of Radiologists (RCR), in conjunction with the British Society of Interventional Radiology, has developed and designed procedure-based assessments (PBAs) tailored to the educational needs and requirements of interventional radiology trainees. The RCR needs IR consultants to take a coordinating role in piloting PBAs in their workplace. To launch the pilot we will be holding a training day at the RCR on Monday 19^th March 2012 from 10.30am until approximately 3.00pm. The BSIR has collaberated with the British Hypertension Society, the British Cardiovascular Intervention Society, National Institute for Clinical Outcomes Research, the British Cardiovascular Society and the Renal Association to develop a consensus statement on this procedure. This consensus has been presented to both NICE and Commissioners. It was felt that it was vitally important for the BSIR to be involved with this project to help ensure a responsible approach to this potentially important procedure and to ensure that we remain a recognised stakeholder in this arena.
